Educational Leaders Using Blogs

I think there are numerous ways an educational leader can use blogs, from communications to the staff or parents and even to their colleagues. I think that a blog can be an effective way to communicate quickly between staff especially. With the constant emails, parent conference, parent phone calls and personal issues there are so many things going on but if an educational leader post blogs of important information in one central location, I can only imagine the positive benefits of the blogs. The blog would be an ease of use (not going through emails) and the ease of one central location.

Action Research

I learned that action research is when one takes the time to fully engage in one single problem at their campus. The person will analyze every aspect of the issue from thinking of solutions for the issues, reflecting on past actions that might have been successful or could be failures, the effects of the issues as well as what were the causes, study any data that pertains to the issue, etc. Basically, it is when a person takes the time to put in effort into analyzing an issue, completing a self study research on that issue and finding a solution or a clarification.
I think the way I would be able to use action research is to focus on the major issues at my campus that I feel affects most of the students. I would analyze the causes and effects of the issue and research ways to solve the problem as well as what will encourage and motivate the students to excel in their academics. I think I could also use action research to figure out what motivates emotional disturbed students and what can I do as well as the staff to help with the emotions that they deal with on a daily basis since my campus has several students with diverse backgrounds. I believe that this will not only benefit my learning about my students but help me grow as an educator and as a person.
